Lily Sayers Compliance & Training Director - Licensing

Lily Sayers serves as a Compliance Director at Chartwell where she is responsible for leading the money transmitter and lending licensing maintenance and administration team. Lily and her team manage a variety of client services including but not limited to new change of control filing, new officers and directors modification, state exam preparation and maintenance of Secretary of State registrations. In addition, Lily oversees license transitions to NMLS and similar systems including submission of new money transmitter and lending applications as changes in regulations occur.

Lily has previous experience, bringing over 10 years in the field of banking, managing a team of tellers, customer service representatives, and personal bankers to handling daily operational reports, monitoring transactions, leading the teller-line and new account department, and resolving numerous challenging transactions. As the operations supervisor for the corporate branch of a local community bank, Lily developed and enhanced operational procedures as well as created a company-wide training program for new tellers and bankers. From her many years in the banking industry, Lily greatly expanded her expertise with regards to online banking, sales, BSA, and treasury management, which she shares with and applies to Chartwell’s clients.

Prior to entering the field of banking, Lily was a case manager for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), an organization that assists with the resettlement of refugees in the United States. With IRC, Lily helped refugees and asylees from over 30 different countries resettle into various communities throughout Southern California. In addition to assisting with immigration paperwork, securing legal status, and acquiring legal and proper documentation, Lily also educated her clients about law observance, employment, financial practices, and cultural assimilation. Through this refugee work, Lily provided the FBI with advisory services regarding procedural improvements at US embassies throughout Eastern Europe.

Lily has completed two intensive Kaizen management trainings in Japan with Toyota Production System Lean Kaizen experts and has also co-authored articles for Chartwell’s Compass publication.

Lily was born in Uzbekistan, but grew up in Crimea, Ukraine. She grew up speaking several languages such as Russian, Ukrainian, Crimean-Tatar, and Turkish. Lily attended Commonwealth International University where she studied Foreign Languages and Literature. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with her family, and traveling.
