Jesus Torres, Managing Director for the Licensing team at Ankura (previously Chartwell), serves as a subject matter expert on all affairs related to state regulatory licensing and compliance. Jesus’s deep knowledge and expertise will assist in providing guidance and oversight in the acquisition and maintenance of money transmission and consumer lending licenses. This also includes addressing outstanding/deficient issues identified through the license acquisition process, evaluating, and remediating regulatory infractions, providing state regulatory examination support, and practical know how related to keeping licenses in good standing with state regulators.
Prior to joining Chartwell, Jesus worked for 19 years with Intermex Wire Transfer, LLC, a multi-national money transmitter, directing the company’s regulatory compliance and licensing affairs, coordinating and implementing Anti-money Laundering (AML) systems and controls (BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Dodd-Frank EFTA Regulation E), acquiring, maintaining and renewing state licenses in multiple jurisdictions, as well as ensuring ongoing compliance with the respective regulatory and reporting requirements of each jurisdiction. Prior to Intermex, Jesus acted as the Administrative Service Center Controller for IKON Office Solutions (now Ricoh), the world’s largest independent provider of document management systems.
Jesus has a B.S. in Business Administrations from the University of Puerto Rico.
